i'm in n'orleans. there are some violent smells along bourbon st., but vodka tonics big enough to swim in eventually effect your sense of smell, sight, sound, taste, and touch and make for a good time...well, actually dangerous. i'm frequenting atms all too often. anyway, i'm currently sitting through a seminar on ODBC data retrieval and am thankful for a wireless connection to the internet. i received this email today and it's so roger miller geeky that it's good, actually sort of like roger himself on stage rocking out wearing engineer sound protective headphones.

Hey guys,

Head over to Ebay right now and bid for one of these
incredible, and rare, Mission of Burma goodies.
Everything
starts at just $1 and all proceeds go to Move On
(www.moveon.org).

Vinyl:

1. "Academy Fight Song" 45 VG condition. Possibly
listened
to once. Possibly less.

2. "Trem II" 45 Test pressing (5/27/82). Handwriting
by
Miller from 1982.

3. Rare version of Trem II with the label "OK/No Way"
printed on both sides, despite the fact that Trem II
is
also on the disc. Guaranteed very rare.

4. Ace of Hearts "Signals Calls and Marches" EP
acetate
(May 5, 1981).

5. Ace of Hearts "Signals Calls and Marches" EP.
Unopened
vinyl.

6. Ace of Hearts Vs. LP. Unopened vinyl. (I think it's
the
virgin vinyl)

7. Ryko "Mission of Burma" double LP. Unopened vinyl.
This
is the vinyl version of Rykodisc's original 80 minute
CD.
Garish yellow cover guaranteed to hurt eyes.

8. Tanng! "Forget LP". Unopened vinyl.

9. "Let there be Burma" - double LP in one sleeve.
Vinyl.
Misdirected attempt from TAANG! to license all the
TAANG!
Burma material to Emergo/Roadrunner in Europe. Total
failure, an embarassing flop. However, does include
the
original radio tape version of "This is not a
Photograph"
and the Electro-Acoustic session version of
"Einstein's Day"
(which we had not cleared for release.) Gross yellow
and
pink cover. Lists Peter Prescott as "O.Prescott".

----

Artifacts:

10. Somewhat wrinkled "flat" for Academy 45. This flat
contains two Ace of Hearts Academy covers to be cut
out,
color-codes along the side. Small water mark due to
storage.
19"X25"

11. Slightly wrinkled "flat" for Trem II 45. This flat
contains two Ace of Hearts Trem II covers to be cut
out,
color-codes along the side.
Overall very good shape except for what appears to be
a
spilled candle spots or something else - mercifully in
the
same muted color tones as the cover art. 19"X25"

Two Frottage Drawings by Roger Miller.
(Go to
http://rogermiller.home.mindspring.com/frottage/
index.html for details on Miller's frottage drawing
technique).

12. Used for cover of Monsoon: Lee Ranaldo, William
Hooker,
Roger Miller Trio, on Atavistic Records. Color
graphite on
black origami paper. 5 3/4"X5 3/4".

13. Frottage Drawing done at the ICA in London while
waiting
for soundcheck last year. 9X12", b+w graphite.

14. Extensive notes from the ONoffON sessions:

Roger's notes on every song towards the end of the
sessions.
Printed out w/extensive illegible scrawiling by Roger.
Lots of odd notes of various types relating to the
sessions.
Lyrics for virtually all the songs.
2003 and 2004 "master lists" of songs for live shows.
"Live" lyric sheets w/just key words printed out for
those
of us without long-term memory.
CD of jpegs of graphic ideas, none actually used.
Includes
photo of the Wounded World lyric sheet the kids sang
to, a
closeup of the actual weatherbox, a graphic Pete
proposed,
two "textural" frottage drawings by Roger, a cool shot
of
a tornado, and a swirled photo of bob weston at the
soundboard at Q-DIvision during ONoffON recording.

9 different printouts of various "switches", trying to
figure out which worked for the cover. Many w/hand
scrawls
by Roger.
First round sequence CD - hand done by Bob Weston at
Q-Division studios. (Bob at this point referred to
ONoffON
as "Weather Box").

And, last but not least, the rather obsessive
dictionary
research of words that might give us a "good title"
(display, cheat, doom, absurd, oblivion, etc.). This
selection by itself adds a full pound to the package.

-----

15. Variety Pack

A tape loop made and used by Bob Weston in either a
show or
for ONoffON.
A discarded neck strap from Lead II guitar, used since
band
started playing again in 2001. Not broken, but
somewhat
abused by Miller. Plenty of duct tape.
Set list from the DNC this past summer - we were
stopped
after our 5th song and never got to Class War.
Included
with this are two computer printed AP photos, both
which
feature our "No New McCarthy Era" banner prominently.
1. Jerry Springer gesticulating.
2. Howard Dean and a gaggle of cheering Deanies.

As always, check http://www.missionofburma.com for the
latest and greatest on MoB.

Cheers,
MoB
